LONDON, Oct 17 (AFP) - Local and
internal conflicts continue to plague sub-Saharan Africa, while the AIDS
epidemic is also a huge problem, the London-based International Institute
for Strategic Studies (IISS) said in an annual report published Thursday.
"Local and internal conflicts are
the backdrop to trends and developments in the region... Meanwhile, HIV/AIDS
is a growing problem, reducing the military capabilities of a number of
countries," the report said.
