New Financing Agreements between the IDB and Number of Member Countries for USD231 Million

On the occasion of the 38th Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, a number of financing agreements have been signed under which the Bank shall participate in financing new development projects in (10) member countries (in addition to the Republic of Kosovo) for a total amount of USD230.9 million , The details are as follows:

1 . The Republic of Tajikistan

Loan for USD10 million, to participate in phase-3 in the Dangara Valley Irrigation Project with the objective of poverty reduction among the population.

Feed the Future Progress Report 2012: Boosting Harvests, Fighting Poverty

Feed the Future is the President’s global hunger and food security initiative and the U.S. Government’s contribution to the common approach to agricultural development and global food security agreed to at the G-8 Summit in L’Aquila, Italy in July 2009; reiterated and expanded by G-20 leaders at the Pittsburgh Summit that September; and ultimately endorsed by 192 countries at the United Nations at the World Food Summit in Rome that November. The initiative is a whole-of-government effort that joins resources and expertise from the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S.

Overview Seventy three allocations were made by the DREF during the first six months of 2012 for a total of CHF 11,778,445. Eighty per cent of the allocations were made as grants to support response to small or medium-scale disasters, referred to as DREF operations. Twelve emergency appeals received start-up funding loans. The allocations supported response to 69 different operations by 54 National Societies.
