Korea contributes US$2 million to WFP vegetable project

In support of efforts to make the Karamoja region more resilient, the Korea government has donated US$2 million toward a WFP asset-creation programme. It is Korea's first local donation to a UN body in Uganda through its international development agency, KOICA.

KAMPALA–The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) today announced a contribution of US$2 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in support of enhanced nutrition and higher household incomes in the Karamoja region.

Govt to relocate Bududa people

The Government has directed all the people living on the steep areas of Bududa district to relocate to safer areas, State minister of Disaster preparedness Musa Echweru.

“We have directed the people in Bududa district to relocate following the disaster management report released to government by experts. The report says a crack has developed on hills where people died and we expect massive landslides and it is our duty to protect the people in advance this time”, said Echweru.

El estado de la inseguridad alimentaria en el mundo 2009 es el 10.=BA informe de situación de la FAO sobre el hambre en el mundo desde la Cumbre Mundial sobre la Alimentación (CMA) de 1996. En el informe se destaca el hecho de que, incluso antes de que se produjeran la crisis alimentaria y la crisis económica, el n=FAmero de personas que padecían hambre había aumentado lenta pero constantemente. Sin embargo, el inicio de estas crisis provocó el incremento pronunciado del n=FAmero de personas que padecen hambre en el mundo.
