Unanimously Adopts Resolution 2097 (2013); Requests Report by 15 September 2013 To Update on Mandate Completion, Transfer of Responsibilities to UN Country Team

Acting on the recommendations of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Security Council today decided that the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL) would fully draw down its operations by 31 March 2013, wrapping up the latest phase of the Organization’s decades-long engagement with the West African country.

Dans une lettre datée du 20 décembre 2010 (S/2010/661), le Président du Conseil de sécurité m’a informé que les membres du Conseil avaient décidé de proroger le mandat du Bureau des Nations Unies pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest (UNOWA) jusqu’au 31 décembre 2013 et m’a demandé de faire rapport tous les six mois sur l’exécution du mandat révisé du Bureau.

The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 66/141, in which the Assembly requested the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict to submit a report on the activities undertaken in the fulfilment of her mandate, including information on her field visits and on the progress achieved and the challenges remaining on the children and armed conflict agenda.

The present report is submitted pursuant to Security Council resolutions 1886 (2009), 1941 (2010) and 2005 (2011), in which the Council requested the SecretaryGeneral to submit a report every six months on the activities of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL). The report covers the period from 1 March to 31 August 2012.

In a letter dated 20 December 2010 (S/2010/661), the President of the Security Council informed me that the members of the Council had agreed to extend the mandate of the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) until 31 December 2013 and requested me to report on the implementation of the revised mandate of UNOWA every six months.

The present report is submitted pursuant to Security Council resolutions 1886 (2009), 1941 (2010) and 2005 (2011), in which the Council requested the Secretary-General to submit a report on the activities of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL) every six months. The report covers the period from 1 September 2011 to 29 February 2012.
