Comme elle l’avait fait en 2010, la France vient en aide aux populations du Pakistan touchées, depuis près d’un mois, par de graves inondations qui ont, d’après les derniers bilans, fait 270 morts dans la province du Sind et affectent la vie de plus de 7,5 millions de personnes, dont 1,8 ont été obligées de quitter leur maison.

A French relief flight reached Karachi Airport at 4 am, carrying tents, water purification station, medicines and potable water bottles. The French Consul General Mr. Christian RAMAGE was also present on the occasion.

Secretary-General: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It is a great pleasure to see you. I am sorry that I couldn't have a press conference with you last month, because of my very hectic schedule. I am pleased to have this monthly regular press conference today.

Yesterday, as you know, I briefed the General Assembly on the latest developments regarding the H1N1 epidemic.

As you know, this outbreak is yet another reminder that we live an interconnected world. A threat to one country is a threat to all, requiring a collective, global response.
