ZIMBABWE: Nurses go on strike
A week after striking doctors returned
to work, the majority of Zimbabwe's 9,000 government nurses have gone on
strike demanding higher salaries and better working conditions, AFP reported
on Wednesday.
In a dispatch quoting Zimbabwe Nurses
Association (ZINA), it said 6,000 nurses began the action on Monday. The
remaining 3,000 nurses, mostly in the capital Harare, were undecided as
their hospitals struggle to make up for lost time caused by the doctors'
strike, according to ZINA spokeswoman Stella Zengwa.
