La Coopération Internationale, la FVS-AMADE Burundi, l’AMADE Mondiale et Fight Aids Monaco collaborent depuis de nombreuses années dans les domaines de la santé, de l’insertion socio-économique et de l’éducation pour aider les orphelins et enfants vulnérables (OEV) qui représentent près de 11% de la population du Burundi.

Aide Humanitaire d’urgence en faveur du Burundi

Suite aux inondations qui ont frappé le Burundi en février dernier, le Gouvernement Princier vient de verser 10.000 euros à la Croix-Rouge locale pour soutenir les populations sinistrées et aider à la reconstruction.

Des pluies diluviennes se sont abattues dans la nuit du 8 au 9 février dans la capitale du Burundi, Bujumbura, et ses environs causant une véritable catastrophe naturelle. Dans la capitale, plus de 400 maisons se sont effondrées ou ont été emportées, touchant principalement les quartiers les plus populaires.

Soutien aux familles déplacées du Nord Mali

Dans le cadre de son aide humanitaire d’urgence le Gouvernement Princier, au travers du Consulat de Monaco au Mali, a renouvelé son appui aux populations du Nord Mali.

L’aide d’urgence du Gouvernement, d’un montant de 50.000 euros, a permis de distribuer des kits alimentaires auprès de 483 familles déplacées, d’approvisionner en intrants agricoles 117 unités de production dans les régions de Tombouctou et de Gao au Nord du pays et d’accompagner le retour de 45 familles.

Monaco reaffirms commitment to the polio eradication initiative

The Principality of Monaco has donated €170 000 to polio eradication operations worldwide, with a particular emphasis on Niger.

Monaco’s contribution comes at a critical moment because Niger remains at particular risk for polio and has been repeatedly re-infected by virus imported from neighbouring northern Nigeria. The wild poliovirus type 1 case with onset 15 November 2012 was linked to Nigeria as well as the 11 July 2013 case due to circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) which was related to cVDPV2 cases detected in 2013 in Cameroon, Chad and Nigeria.

Natural disasters, including drought, earthquakes, floods, and wildfires, as well as ongoing complex emergencies and limited government capacity in the region, present significant challenges to vulnerable populations in Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia (EMCA). Between FY 2004 and FY 2013, USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) and USAID’s Office of Food for Peace (USAID/FFP) provided assistance in response to a range of disasters, including floods, wildfires, winter emergencies, and complex crises.

Aides Humanitaires d’Urgence à destination de la Syrie, du Mali et du Soudan

Le Gouvernement Princier vient de débloquer 130.000 euros pour apporter des soins de santé de base aux populations syriennes réfugiées au Liban, aider les familles maliennes, ayant fui le Nord du pays, à revenir chez elles et soutenir les victimes du conflit ethnique au Soudan.

Selon les derniers chiffres du Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés (HCR), deux millions de syriens ont trouvé refuge dans les pays voisins, dont près de la moitié au Liban qui compte lui quatre millions d’habitants.

Urgent Humanitarian Aid to Syria, Mali and Sudan

The Prince's Government has just released EUR 130,000 to provide basic health care to the Syrian refugee population in Lebanon, help Malian families who have fled from the north of the country to return home, and support victims of the ethnic conflict in Sudan.

According to the latest figures from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (HCR), two million Syrians have found refuge in neighbouring countries, almost half of whom are in Lebanon, which already has four million inhabitants.

Successful first test of Tsunami Warning System for the North Atlantic and Mediterranean

The exercise organized on 27 and 28 November to evaluate the functioning of the Tsunami Warning System for the North East Atlantic, Mediterranean and Adjacent Seas has taken place as scheduled. This real-time simulation, based on four scenarios in which earthquakes provoked tsunamis in different regions, demonstrated that the communication system for sending and receiving alert messages to concerned national authorities, worked smoothly.

North Atlantic and Mediterrenean tsunami warning system put to the test

A simulated tsunami will strike the western and eastern coasts of the Mediterranean Sea and the North East Atlantic shoreline on 27 and 28 November, to test the Tsunami Early Warning and Mitigation System for the North-eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean and connected seas. The exercise, named NEAMWave12, is organized under the umbrella of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC).

Results of Monaco Collectif Humanitaire: 139 children received care between January 2008 and October 2011

On Tuesday 11th October, in the presence of T.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and Princess Charlene, Monaco Collectif Humanitaire presented the results of the project initiated on the occasion of the Prince’s 50th birthday and which has enabled 139 children from developing countries to receive treatment in Monaco. After thanking and commending the involvement of each member of the Collectif, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince announced that he wished to renew his support for the project, by allocating 450,000 € for the period 2011-2013.

Emergency Humanitarian Aid for the Horn of Africa

In the face of the worst drought the Horn of Africa (Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia) has experienced in the last 60 years, the Government of Monaco has decided to allocate 20,000 € to the World Food Programme in order to provide food supplements to the under fives in Ethiopia.

According to the latest estimates of the World Food Programme (WFP), close to 11.5 million people are in need of Emergency Humanitarian Aid not only in the Horn of Africa, but also in Kenya and Uganda.

Monaco's Prince Albert visits young Iraqi refugee recovering from heart surgery

PARIS, France, June 15 (UNHCR) – Prince Albert II of Monaco has shown his personal support for a medical accord with UNHCR by visiting a five-year-old Iraqi refugee recovering from heart surgery in Monte Carlo.

The Monaco leader called on Basim Omar Basim last Thursday at the Cardio-Thoracic Centre, where the infant underwent a life-saving operation earlier this year under an accord between UNHCR and the Mediterranean principality's Office of International Cooperation. The boy had had a first operation in Monaco in 2009, but needed to return for more surgery this year.
