JOHANNESBOURG, 26 novembre 2012 (IRIN) - Les crises de réfugiés semblent commencer et se terminer. En 2011, tous les yeux étaient tournés vers le complexe de réfugiés de Dadaab, dans le nord du Kenya, alors qu’il accueillait des centaines de milliers de Somaliens qui fuyaient la famine et le conflit. Cette année, c’est l’exode des réfugiés syriens qui a attiré l’attention du public, même si la majorité des Somaliens qui sont arrivés à Dadaab l’an dernier y sont toujours.

Refugee crises appear to come and go. In 2011, all eyes were on the Dadaab refugee complex in northern Kenya as it received hundreds of thousands of Somalis fleeing famine and conflict. This year, attention has shifted to the refugee exodus from Syria, even though the majority of Somalis who arrived at Dadaab last year are still there.

1. South Africa: deportations of undocumented Zimbabweans to resume

Johannesburg, 16 September 2010 - At the end of the year, South Africa is to resume the deportation of Zimbabweans who fail to quality for visas under the new government regularisation plan.

According to a government statement, Zimbabwean nationals who are working, conducting businesses, or studying in South Africa will be issued with visas, provided they have valid documentation. Undocumented Zimbabweans will be treated like all others and their deportation will resume on 31 December.

Geneva (ICRC) In 2009, some 4.6 million internally displaced people (IDPs) - 20% more than in 2008 - benefited from humanitarian assistance provided by the ICRC, in association with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in 33 countries all over the world. The ICRC devoted approximately 15% of its operational budget, or 150 million Swiss francs, to its efforts to alleviate the suffering and address the needs of people driven from their homes as a result of armed conflict and other violence.

UN: Punish abuse of children in war

Known Child Recruiters Promoted to Key Government, Military Posts

(New York, April 28, 2009) - The United Nations Security Council should impose sanctions on governments and armed groups for using child soldiers, sexual violence against children, and attacks on schools, and should promote effective prosecution of the commanders responsible, Human Rights Watch said today.
