Honduras Drought Situation Report No. 1

1.        According to the UNDP/DHA Resident Representative has reported that drought is affecting the Southern Region of Honduras, in particular the Departments of Choluteca, Valle,  Francisco Morazán, El Paraíso and Comayagua.

2.        So far, the Government has not declared a state of emergency, and has not requested international assistance.        

Agricultural sector

3.        To date, the agricultural sector is the most seriously hit: 5 to 10 per cent
