Government of Fiji Humanitarian Action Plan for Tropical Cyclone Evan, 2nd edition

This Humanitarian Action Plan (HAP) has been developed by the Government of Fiji following the damaging impact of Tropical Cyclone Evan on parts of western and northern Fiji on 16 and 17 December 2012. The HAP has a 3 month timeframe from the impact of TC Evan and aims to facilitate coordination of the humanitarian response by documenting the response plan and identifying gaps/requirements for the response.

A revision is envisaged for the first week of February 2013 which will further inform the recovery and rehabilitation process and programs as planned by Government and partners.

ACT Alert Fiji 01/07: Torrential rain and flash floods

Geneva, 22 February 2007 - Continuous torrential rains have been lashing the Pacific islands of Fiji for the past three weeks causing wide-spread flooding. On the main islands of Viti Levu, the tourist destination of Nadi - a town of approximately 30,000 people - was completely under 2m of water forcing the army and the police to declare a state of emergency.

To the north, the second largest island has been severely damaged by flash floods. Two villages of 86 houses were completely washed away when logs from a nearby logging project rushed down

Appeal No. 03/03; Operations Update no. 1/Interim Final Report Launched on for CHF for 3 months for 30,000 beneficiaries.
Appeal launched on 22 January 2003 for CHF 820,000 for 3 months for 30,000 beneficiaries. The relief operation was extended in order to complete rehabilitation activities including repairs of community water supplies and school infrastructure. Most activities have now been completed.
