20 mai 2016 – L'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) a confirmé vendredi que le virus Zika, de souche asiatique, a été importé du continent américain au Cabo-Verde, un archipel de l'Afrique de l'Ouest.

Le séquençage du virus au Cabo-Verde par l'Institut Pasteur de Dakar confirme que le virus Zika circulant actuellement au Cabo-Verde est le même que celui circulant sur le continent américain et a très probablement été importé du Brésil, a précisé l'OMS dans un communiqué de presse.

BRAZZAVILLE / 20 May 2016 - Sequencing of the virus in Cabo Verde by Institut Pasteur, Dakar confirms that the Zika virus currently circulating in Cabo Verde is the same as the one circulating in the Americas - the Asian type- and was most likely imported from Brazil. This is the first time that the Zika strain responsible for the outbreaks linked to neurological disorders and microcephaly has been detected in Africa.

Global Highlights

•During Q1-2016, FAO’s global cereal price index fell by 14 percent year-on-year thanks to ample supplies and stock positions. The index is now at levels last seen in early 2007. The FAO global food price index is 15 percent lower than in Q1-2015.
