Russian Federation: Floods in the Far East cause large-scale displacement

Russia is experiencing the worst floods in over a century. According to a Ministry of Emergency Situations report, heavy rains caused the evacuation of 19,820 people from the Jewish Autonomous region and Khabarovsk territory. INTRODUCTION
La FIDH condamne fermement tout acte de terrorisme international. Les attentats commis à l'encontre d'une population civile ne peuvent trouver quelconque justification et leurs auteurs doivent être traduits devant la justice, dans le strict respect des normes universelles de protection des droits de l'homme.

ICRC staff remember colleagues killed in the course of their duties

Geneva (ICRC) - Today, 17 December 2001, the staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are paying tribute to friends and colleagues killed while bringing aid to victims of war. The date is the fifth anniversary of the assassination of six ICRC delegates at the organization's hospital in the Chechen village of Novye Atagi, but over the years has become a day to honour and remember all ICRC personnel who have lost their lives in the course of their humanitarian work around the world.
