Democratic Republic of Congo: Humanitarian situation (January 2012 - April 2013)

Since 2012 the DRC has witnessed a constant increase in the number of internally displaced people, up from 1.7 million in December 2011 to more than 2.6 million in April 2013. The east of the country has remained very unstable due to the presence of various armed groups and militias.

DAKAR, 20 March 2013 (IRIN) - Aid watchdogs have been pushing for more transparent governance and information on financial flows, but just how much progress has been made over the past couple of years?

The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), born out of the 2008 Accra aid effectiveness conference, and concretized at the Busan aid effectiveness conference in 2012, is one initiative pushing governments to be more open about where their aid money is going.

LONDRES, 30 nov 2012 (AFP) - Le Royaume-Uni a annoncé vendredi le gel de 25,9 millions d'euros de son aide au développement au Rwanda en raison de ses "inquiétudes" vis-à-vis du soutien du régime de Kigali aux rebelles du M23 qui opèrent en République démocratique du Congo (RDC) voisine.

La décision de la ministre britannique de l'Aide au développement, Justine Greening, suit celle, hautement polémique de son prédécesseur Andrew Mitchell, qui avait levé partiellement en septembre le gel de l'aide au Rwanda, décrété en juillet.
