Rural poor people in post-war Democratic Republic of Congo to get help in rebuilding livelihoods

Rome 15 July 2004 - A new programme to rebuild structures and services in war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo will provide a new lease on life for 70 000 poor households in the rural hinterlands of the Equateur Province.
The USD 22.6 million programme will be financed partly by a USD 14.7 million loan from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). A further USD 6.0 million will be contributed by the Belgian Government through the Belgian Survival Fund. The loan agreement was signed today at IFAD headquarters by Innocent Mokosa

RDC: Un nouvel espoir pour les ruraux pauvres au lendemain de la guerre

Rome, 15 juillet 2004 - Un nouveau programme de reconstitution des infrastructures et des services en République démocratique du Congo après les ravages de la guerre redonnera une chance à 70 000 ménages pauvres dans l'arrière-pays rural de la province de l'Équateur.
Ce programme, d'un montant de 22,6 millions de USD, sera financé en partie par un prêt de 14,7 millions de USD consenti par le Fonds international de développement agricole (FIDA).
