Five children injured in DRCongo bombardment

GEMENA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Oct 1 (AFP) - Five children have been injured in a government aerial bombardment of the rebel-held Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) town of Gemena, witnesses said.
The attack, which took place on Saturday, coincided with celebrations of the second anniversary of the formation Congo Liberation Movement (MLC), which is battling DRCongo President Laurent Kabila.

Three houses, situated around 500 meters (yards) from where an MLC gathering was to take place, were destroyed in the bombing, local residents here told AFP.

He said in a statement Saturday that he had kept a low profile for some time "to avoid getting into a shouting match."

Masire was appointed as facilitator by the Organisation of African Unity last December, but on June 12 the Kinshasa
