Advancing Dialogue on Maternal Health series

The 2009–2010 Advancing Dialogue on Maternal Health series worked to address many critical and neglected maternal health topics. During this period, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ Global Health Initiative (GHI) co-convened 10 public meetings and 2 private workshops with the Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to identify challenges and discuss strategies for advancing the maternal health agenda.

Independent Review of the Value Added of the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) in Bolivia

The CERF has become a significant resource for natural disaster response and has been called upon frequently since its inception in 2006. The CERF was the largest humanitarian donor to Bolivia in 2010 and is the second largest to date in 2011. Although relations between humanitarian actors in the government, UN and INGOs are relatively open, the broader political context and the nature of funding flows mean that, in the event of a natural disaster, there is no single, jointly constructed response plan to which the CERF contributes.

Bolivia: Defensa civil, FFAA, policia mejoraran la capacidad de respuesta frente a los desastres

La Paz, 18 mar (ABI).- Las instituciones civiles, militares y policiales evaluaron la respuesta que se brindó a la emergencia nacional por las lluvias, inundaciones y riadas ocurridas entre enero y febrero de este año, para mejorar la capacidad de atención frente a los desastres naturales.

La evuación se realizó en un seminario y el objetivo del evento fue para consolidar la Organización Funcional del Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia Nacional (Coen), organizado por el Ministerio de Defensa, el Viceministerio de Defensa Civil y Cooperación al Desarrollo Integral.

Bolivia: Instituciones del COE se reunieron para mejorar atención de las emergencias

La Paz, 14 feb (ABI).- Las instituciones que conforman el Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia (COE) del municipio de La Paz, se reunieron hoy para analizar, ajustar y coordinar mejor la atención que brindan a los casos de emergencias que se suscitan en un n=FAmero mayor con el incremento en las lluvias.

En la reunión estuvo presente el alcalde Juan Del Granado, quien brindó un informe sobre la situación en que se encuentra la ciudad, las acciones desplegadas para la atención de emergencias, el desplazamiento de personal y maquinaria, en el marco de la Alerta Naranja.
