ReliefWeb Apps: 12,000 downloads and counting!

After only four months, ReliefWeb mobile apps have been downloaded more than 12,000 times!

We began developing mobile apps in mid-2016 to make information more accessible to our users and meet the ever-growing mobile demand for our content.

In October 2016, we launched four distinctive mobile apps:

  1. RW Crises provides real-time data and funding information as well as maps, infographics, and situation reports on the world’s most pressing crises;
  2. RW Headlines gives users an overview of the latest humanitarian news;
  3. RW Jobs makes it easier to access our comprehensive job listings on-the-go, based on user preferences;
  4. RW Videos caters for the emerging trend of video reporting and features the latest humanitarian videos selected by ReliefWeb editors.

ReliefWeb apps have been well-received and have garnered positive reviews in news outlets such as the Huffington Post and Devex, as well as app blogs such as Appolicious and Infodocket.com.

We are grateful to our users and collaborators in making this project successful.

We are now working on another iteration of these apps as well as developing a tablet version of the Crises app, featuring more interactive data and a map-based platform. A new regional humanitarian mobile app for the Americas in Spanish is also under development.

Stay tuned!
