How to find the most suitable jobs on ReliefWeb

Looking for a job in the humanitarian and development sector?

ReliefWeb is a great resource for job seekers. Not only can you find hundreds of new humanitarian vacancies published each day on our platform, you can also gain insights into the countries and topics of your interest. Learn how to find the most suitable job openings as well as relevant background information to prepare for your job interview.

How to find jobs that best suit you

Visit the ReliefWeb Jobs page to look for a job that best fits your interest and qualifications. Using the left-hand side filters, you can narrow down your job search by countries, hiring organizations, career categories, years of experience, etc. You can use as many filters as you want in order to narrow down your search.

Here are a few examples to further assist you in your job search:

Case 1: If you have extensive experience in the “Water Sanitation Hygiene” sector and you are seeking full-time Senior Management positions in South Sudan, you may want to apply the following filters to your search:
- Select "Job" under Type
- Select "Programme/Project Management" under Career Categories
- Select "10+ years" or "5-10 years", as applicable
- Select "Water Sanitation Hygiene" under Theme
- Select "South Sudan" under Country

You may further narrow your search by filtering options for Organization and/or Organization Type.

Case 2: If you are a fresh graduate with a background in Education and looking for a job in East Africa, you may narrow your search by doing the following:
- Select "Job" under Type
- Select "0-3 years" under Experience
- Select "Education" under Theme
- Select "Eastern Africa" under Region

Case 3: If you are a stay-at-home parent with relevant experience in Social Media and/or Journalism looking for a job with flexible working arrangement, you may narrow your search by doing the following:
- Select "Media/Communications" under Career Category
- Select "Unspecified" under Job location

Please note that you may search for jobs that are “home-based” or "roving" by filtering "Unspecified" under Job location.

Use ReliefWeb to prepare yourself for job interviews

Applying for a job abroad? Check out the country profiles to find extensive information through reports, maps, articles, press releases, all related to the humanitarian and development context of the country. You can also extend your knowledge about organizations and topics of your interest.

On each country page, the “Overview” box at the top gives you access to the latest important reports, crisis response plans, recent disasters and featured map, all curated by our editors.

You can narrow down your reports search by themes, year of publication, type of publications, etc., or you can use the toggle “All Update”, “Only Reports” and “Maps & Infographics” to switch the view of the content by latest. You could of course use our powerful advanced search at the top of the river, as well.

To get to know the activities of your potential employer, you can visit the Organizations section to see all reports, jobs and training that the organization has shared with ReliefWeb over the years.
